I was honored when Whitney reached out to me about taking her engagement pictures. We planned for a weekend around Thanksgiving, but it happened to be the only day that ended up pouring rain. We pushed it back another week and… you guessed it. Rain again. So we pushed it back one more week. Third times a charm, right?
Whitney wanted to shoot at El Matador Beach. My last shoot there, the beach was packed and at high tide (remember?). I was prepared for the same experience. However, the day of the shoot was the warmest day I had felt in weeks! And when we arrived at the beach, we realized we practically had it to ourselves AND the tied was low. Phew!
Patrick and Whitney are high school sweethearts from Alabama who moved clear across the country last year. He proposed to her at the Urban Light installment at LACMA. They will be going back home to get married, but California is already such a huge part of their lives. A Californian coast engagement shoot just made sense for them! Immediately when I pulled out my camera, they were playful and authentic. I just stood back and let them be. Their love was obvious and made the shoot a breeze. These are only a few of my favorite! Enjoy!
Even the ones drenched in sun were everything!
Last, but not least, the ring.
These pictures are fantastic and they hold my heart!
Thank you! They were so lovely to shoot!
